In his series “Selected,” artist Mike Guppy has taken iconic paintings, replacing their central figures with an animated gif outline resembling the selection tools ‘marching ants.’ His near seamless backgrounds easily trick the eye into believing the main character never existed, lending a distinct air of re-written history.
